BIC Family Summer Barbecue – A Day of Fellowship at Rutland Waters

Date: Sunday, 22 June 2025
Location: Rutland Waters
Hosted by: BIC

To welcome the warmth and spirit of summer, BIC organised a vibrant family barbecue on Sunday 22nd June at the scenic Rutland Waters. Families arrived around midday, setting up camp in a quiet, secluded spot overlooking the reservoir, creating the perfect backdrop for a day of connection, laughter, and relaxation.

Following Dhuhr prayer, the afternoon began with preparations for a hearty lunch. The atmosphere quickly filled with the aroma of grilled delights as drinks were poured, salads chopped, and barbecues fired up. A generous and varied feast was served on sahans and paper plates—featuring succulent chicken wings, juicy burgers, tender lamb chops and ribs, beef steaks, sizzling sausages, and sweet corn on the cob.

After the meal, the children made their way to the shallow waters for some playful paddling, while the sisters enjoyed a peaceful walk along the reservoir’s scenic trails. The brothers, full of energy, organised friendly matches of football and cricket on the grassy fields nearby, keeping the spirit of togetherness alive through sport and laughter.

As the sun began its descent, everyone regrouped to wind down with hot tea, light snacks, and ice cream from a nearby café. The day came to a close as families packed up and made their way back to the car park—content, connected, and refreshed after a wonderful day of shared memories.
