Alhamdulillah, Britannia Islamic Centre successfully hosted its first Charity Football Tournament on Sunday 5th July 2026 at Beauchamp College, Oadby, Leicester. The tournament was organised in partnership with Action For Humanity, with the aim of raising funds to support humanitarian aid efforts for the people of Palestine. Through the generosity and support of everyone involved, we were delighted to raise a total of £1,416.97 for Palestine.
The tournament brought together 11 teams for a competitive 7-a-side football competition and proved to be an enjoyable day for players, volunteers, guests and supporters. Alongside the football, attendees were able to enjoy a selection of Sri Lankan short eats and refreshments, which were available for sale at our charity food stall and contributed towards the fundraising efforts.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mr Tinku of Universal Packaging, our main sponsor, whose generous support played an important role in making the tournament possible. We were also honoured to welcome Councillor Zuffar Haq as our Chief Guest, alongside members of the BMS National Shoora, and we greatly appreciate their presence and support on the day.
A special thank you goes to all of our volunteers and organisers who generously gave their time and effort before and throughout the tournament. From setting up and coordinating matches to catering, logistics and supporting the teams, the event would not have been possible without their dedication.
Congratulations to Indian Internationals, who were crowned BIC Charity Football Tournament 2026 Champions, following an excellent performance throughout the competition. Congratulations also to The Habibis, who finished as runners-up after a strong tournament.
Alhamdulillah, the tournament was a successful and memorable day, bringing the community together through football while supporting an important charitable cause. We thank everyone who participated, sponsored, volunteered, donated or attended. We pray that Allah accepts everyone’s efforts and allows BIC Youth to continue organising beneficial events for our community in the future.
